REGISTRATION IS OPEN for our 2nd Annual Schomburg
Summer Education Institute: Black History 360°: Connecting Black American
History with the Global Black Experience from July 25 through 29, 2011
– 9 am to 5 pm. HOPE TO SEE YOU HERE!
This year we’ve lined up 5 full days
of brilliant scholars and educators including Dr. Quintard Taylor (U. of
Washington) lecturing on the Black West, Dr. Robert O’Meally (Columbia U.)
lecturing on Black Manhattan, Dr. Sylviane Diouf (Schomburg Center) lecturing
on The African Diaspora in the Indian Ocean World, Yohuru Williams (Fairfield
U.) lecturing on Civil Rights in America, and Dr. Khalil Gibran Muhammad (the
Schomburg’s New Director).

Tuesday, July 26 – The Black West
Wednesday, July 27 – Black Manhattan: Renaissance and Contemporary

In addition, the Schomburg will have two
fantastic gallery exhibitions on view this summer on Malcolm X and Romare
Bearden. There is so much for us to
