The New York Public Library is facing the harshest budget cut in its 100-year history — $40 million — if the proposed City budget is ratified.
These budget cuts will have far-reaching effects. Some neighborhood libraries could close altogether while others would be open just four days a week. Programs for kids, seniors, literacy training, computer classes — and so much more — would all be significantly reduced.
